¡Viva Miami! - Next Stop, Rio

We arrived in Miami this afternoon, and had a few hours to experience its diverse culture of the airport. The richness of languages and nationalities is a good primer for what's to come. Our next flight leaves at 8:30pm, then it's an early morning arrival in Rio de Janeiro. We're all hoping for a restful flight as it's been a long day of traveling.

And away we go

The group from Surry CC met the group from CCC&TI at the Charlotte Airport this morning - but, of course, the first flight is delayed. No worries though. A little lunch and some time to chill in the airport and we'll be on our way soon. A short flight to Miami, then we leave for Rio (a 10-hour flight!)

Where are we going?

Ouro Preto - Minas Gerais, Brazil

CCC&TI has enjoyed a tremendous student exchange program with several institutions in Brazil, and it has had tremendous growth in recent years. The trip that begins Friday will include: tours of historic and cultural sites in Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo; tours of several colleges; sampling of Brazilian cuisine; visits to local businesses and Portuguese language classes.

Over the coming days and weeks, we'll post info and as many photos/videos as we can to this blog. If you have friends who are going, are hoping to go on a future study tour of Brazil, or would simply like to experience the rich culture of Brazil, we hope you'll follow along. We also encourage readers to comment on our experiences and to ask questions.

Two Days Until Departure

Students and staff from Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute and Surry Community College will begin a 17-day study/exchange trip to Brazil on May 31.

We've had the pleasure of hosting several groups from various institutions in Brazil in recent years and are looking forward to paying our friends a visit. As with their visits to the United States, we anticipate wonderful experiences and incredible educational opportunities in Brazil.

We plan to share stories, photos and hopefully some video from our journey - so that future students, both from Brazil and Western North Carolina, can get a taste of the exchange. We're not sure how often the travel blog will be updated, but we hope you'll follow our journey and experience Brazil with us.

Boa Viagem!
